Originating from the 19th century, a micromoasic pendant of St. Peter’s Basilica and atop the Temple of Pompeii set in 14k yellow gold with size approximately 8 cm length by 5 cm width.
Popularized in the 1800’s from Italy, micro mosaic jewelry’s history dates back as early as the 1700s when the Vatican Mosaic Studio was opened to preserve some of the paintings in the city’s basilica through mosaics.
Reaching the 19th century, this jewelry was also collected as mementos or souvenirs by aristocrats during the “Grand Tour” around Europe.
